Nick and I have started working on some mockups for the post-Maker Faire version of the AYL website. In the event that new visitors want to weigh in, we thought we'd put the discussion up here to get additional feedback.

Here's what I am working on so far for the home page:

Inner pages (blog posts, project pages, project categories, etc) will use the same top navbar and white background. I am working on those mockups right now.

Project lists will look similar to what they are now. For blog posts, we are planning to create something fairly minimalist, similar to this person's blog. For individual project pages with instructions, we want to emulate the straight-forward layouts that the Make: Projects site uses.

I am debating whether or not to use the v4 alpha release of the Twitter Bootstrap framework. It is already quite good, and I am fairly confident that we can easily resolve any issues that may come up when we upgrade to subsequent beta and final releases.

@Nick, thoughts?

Here is a starting point for the new version of the site. I pushed it to a new GitHub repo for now so we don't break the current site.

chimericdream Thanks for getting this set up. It's a great new design. I would have liked to be move involved, but you know, life.

moshner Don't worry about it at all. I've had a blast working on the new site. I am actually planning to launch tonight or tomorrow when I finally wrap up the footer. I think I've gotten all the build stuff working, and the footer is pretty much all that's left.
